Why does my power washer lose pressure

A pressure washer is a great tool to make the cleaning task efficient and convenient. Until your pressure washer loses pressure in the middle of your washing-it works incredibly. Dropping the pressure from the expected range directly impacts the washing! The user can’t clean the surface well enough, cant removes the dirt or debris blocking the surface.

However, there are a few reasons why your pressure washer can lose its pressure. Mentionable among those reasons are-

Improper Water Supply:

It’s not the pressure machine problem, hence it is the water supply attachment problem that comes along with your tools. Check the water supply hose pipe, if it’s loosely connected to the washer, it also can cause low pressure while spraying water.

Also if there are any leaks, or holes in your high-pressure hose-an incorrect hose also will lose power and thus will drop the pressure. If you pull the trigger with a worn hose pipe, a max of the pressure will realize from the hose pipe hole.

How to resolve it? Just replace the high-pressure hose, if it is worn. If you do not find any hope or leaks on your hose pipe, that means you have to check the kinks of the pipe. Having kinks in the pipeline also could stop the water flow.

Blockage in the Nozzle Attachment.

You may know what the clogged nozzle means. If your pressure washer is working with a clogged, or broken nozzle-your pressure washer will not produce the proper washer. To check whether the nozzle attachment is working properly or not, you can do two things.

First, run the pressure washer. But do not turn on the engine or motor. If the water flow comes from the steady nozzle tip, that means these nozzle tips are okay. If there is no water flow or a little water flow that means the nozzle attachment might have a blockage or broken part.

How to resolve it? Once you become sure the problem is coming from the nozzle attachment, now let’s resolve it. Open the nozzle tip, and put a flashlight through the nozzle tip, if you could not see the light from the other end, that means there is a blockage.

Use a metal wire and pass it from one end of the nozzle hole to the other. It will remove the nozzle blockage, You also can use an air compressor to remove the nozzle blockage.

Also check the nozzle tip, whether you have added the correct tip or not. Sometimes it may happen, mistakenly you screwd up the soap injector tip instead of the water spraying one.

As all the soap tips are to spray soap, and detergent at a slow pressure so if you add this tip to the nozzle attachment, it will lower the pressure. So replace the soap injector tip with the correct tip-your pressure machine will automatically work at a high pressure again.

Problematic O Rings:

Problematic O rings also can cause the pressure washer to face losing pressure. To be sure whether the O rings are in problem or not, unscrew the Outlet Coupler and find the O rings there. If the O ring is too much old, it may dysfunctional automatically.

However, if you are not finding the O rings, it may lodge on the Coupler. Again, The O rings may become rusty or may become damaged.

How to resolve it? Just replace the O ring with the new one. You will get it at your nearby hardware store.

Improper Adjustment of Unloader Valve:

If the Unloader Valve (Safety Switch, forces high pressurized water to reach the water inlet from the water outlet, by a cycling process). If this safety valve is incorrectly adjusted with the pressure washer, it will reduce the pressure from your pressure washer.

How to Resolve it? Adjust the Unloader Valve properly.

Bad Water Pump:

The bad water pump can cause a Slow water leak which ultimately can lose the water pressure from your pressure washer. Usually, this problem happens due to a leaking valve or damaged valve. Both these two issues directly impact the prime of the water pump and the whole pressure washer.

You can check the pressure washer pump problems easily, just connect the washer to the garden water supply pipe and handle the tool. If then even e little bit of pressure increases, that means the pump is okay. If not, then you have to fix the pump.

How to Resolve it? Check the valve first, and if needed replace the valve. Or if the water pump itself is bad, replace the pump. Also, clean the filter, and clean the water pump.

Improper water temperature:

What your pressure washer is spraying, hot or cold water also is important to retain the pressure at optimal range. We know cold water cannot easily bypass any obstacles. Just imagine your kitchen experience, what do you do here exactly?

You use hot water to clean the fat and heavy debris from the kitchen utensils. The same also is suited for the pressure washer, if the water is too cold, the pressure washer nozzle may stack, and cannot generate the optimal pressure properly.

How to resolve it? Use hot water for the pressure washing.

Low oil in the Tank:

A pressure washer is also like a car. As your car engine cannot run without oil or gas, a pressure washer also cannot generate proper pressure without oil in its tank.

How to resolve it? Fill the oil tank with oil.

However, some other problems like an Engine problem, Pressure Washer Spray Gin Problem, Improper Nozzle attachment, and Air inside the Pressure Washer System also could cause low pressure from the pressure washer.

FAQs:
